NY refinery starts turning wood chips into fuel

Boston-based Mascoma Corp. has started producing cellulosic ethanol from wood chips at a demonstration-scale plant in Rome, NY. The plant has opened a year behind the company's original schedule and at less than half its initial production capacity target; the company expects to produce 200,000 gallons of ehtanol at the plant this year.
