American Forest Foundation - Policy Manager

The American Forest Foundation seeks ambitious, smart, and highly motivated candidates to fill an exciting new Policy Manager position. AFF is a national non-profit conservation organization that works with family woodland owners to help them practice good stewardship that leads to measurable impact on clean water, wildlife habitat, and sustainable wood supplies. .  Through the use of new marketing and communication tools, AFF is leading the way in reaching and engaging woodland owners in sustainable management that will protect our forests into the future. AFF’s innovative strategies aim to achieve a variety of outcomes, including conserving wildlife habitat, protecting clean water, reducing the risk of catastrophic wildfire, and ensuring a sustainable wood supply through landowner stewardship.  The Policy Manager will have the unique opportunity to help shape our policy agenda that supports these outcomes while working as part of a national team.
 
The position requires a self-starting, ambitious individual who can work without constant, direct supervision.  In particular, the Policy Manager will develop and expand AFF’s grassroots base of advocates and will develop and cultivate relationships with key congressional targets and staffers to assist with AFF’s federal lobbying activities.  Additionally, the position will manage all logistics for fly-ins and other advocacy events as well as generate and distribute policy updates, manage volunteer committees and advisory groups, and support coalition building efforts and partnerships. Salary is commensurate with experience and it is combined with an attractive benefits package.  The position will work from AFF’s headquarters in Washington, DC. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in political science, forestry, wildlife, environmental science, or a related field required along with at least three years of related experience in one of the aforementioned fields.
