NASF Resolution No. 1989-6: Urban Wildland Initiative
WHEREAS: the National Association of State Foresters has committed to a full partnership in developing a major fire protection initiative associated with residential and commercial expansion in forest and wildland areas with the National Fire Protection Association, the U.S. Fire Administration, the U.S. Forest Service, and the U.S.D.I. in a resolution ratified in the Executive Session of the 1986 Annual Meeting; and
WHEREAS: this union of these agencies is known as the Wildland/Urban Interface Initiative Partners Program; and
WHEREAS: the National Association of State Foresters ratified a resolution in the 1988 Annual Meeting to support the Initiative program for Fiscal Year 1989 by committing one percent of each state's federal cooperative money, approximately $100,00.00; and
WHEREAS: the ultimate success of the Initiative Partners Program depends upon the actions of state organizations, and local groups and organizations;
WHEREAS: much progress has been made in assisting state agencies and in furthering the goals of the Initiative Partners;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the National Association of State Foresters supports funding of the Initiative Partners Program for Fiscal Year 1990 in the manner of the resolution ratified in the 1987 Annual Meeting; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a supplemental additional appropriation be pursued that will be used to fund this initiative in the future.
