How technology is connecting people to nature

Now there's an app for nature too! A new app called Leafsnap was developed to help spark an interest in nature among kids who spend too much time in a virtual world, showing them that gaming, texting and talking aren't the only things to do on a phone, laptop or iPad. Developers designed Leafsnap with simplicity in mind. All a user has to do is photograph the tree's leaf against a white background and the app makes an ID by matching the image against a leaf-image library. Once identified, the app gives the user not only the name of the tree, but a host of other details.
