Number of women managing private forest lands on rise

Women who own woodlands constitute a fast-growing demographic, according to the US Department of Agriculture. To address this change to the industry, many states around the country have developed Women Owning Woodlands Network educations programs to offer camaraderie and support to women managing woodlands. Through workshops and other gatherings, WOWnet seeks to connect mentors with women seeking information on a range of topics, from estate planning to tree identification to tractor safety, and to forge friendships among women who share the same challenges.
