West Virginia University offers forestry education to female inmates
Through an innovative new program, West Virginia University is bringing forestry education to a state women's prison. In August faculty from WVU's Division of Forestry and Natural Resources will kick off a program to teach inmates about forestry.
The program will cover the basics of forest ecology, dendrology, silviculture and forest entomology during a three-hour workshop. Participants will be given homework and then must complete an examination on the workshop and reading materials.
