Established in 2014, in response to an overwhelming number of great wildfire mitigation program efforts across the nation, the national Wildfire Mitigation Awards program recognizes outstanding work and significant program impact in wildfire preparedness and mitigation.
The Wildfire Mitigation Awards are jointly sponsored by NASF, the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC), the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and the USDA Forest Service. By honoring the achievements of awardees, the program sponsors seek to increase public recognition and awareness of the value of wildfire mitigation efforts.
All nominations for 2020 Wildfire Mitigation Awards must adhere to this criteria and be submitted to this online form by November 15, 2019.

2020 Smokey Bear Awards nominations will be accepted until December 15.
In the world of wildfire prevention, there is no greater honor than to receive a Smokey Bear Award. These special awards are reserved for people or organizations that provide outstanding service with significant and sustained program impact in the wildfire prevention arena.
The earliest version of the Smokey Bear Awards began in the mid-1950s. Then and today, the awards program is led by the three partners behind the Smokey Bear wildfire prevention campaign—the National Association of State Foresters, the Ad Council, and the USDA Forest Service.
